The occasion is given by the recent viewing of a film memorable: I love Luca Guadagnino. so I decided to watch it, by chance, in an autumn evening, and I was amazed. I tell the story in two words, at the risk of making it extremely obvious: the story of Emma (Tilda Swinton), of Russian origin, became part of the rich Milanese family of marrying Tancredi Recchi. The film begins with a dinner, in a rarefied atmosphere, filled with pleasantries and formalities. Right from the first scene there is a particular climate, tense and at the same time incomprehensible. Emma has three children and is particularly close to Edward that constantly turns to her in Russian, as if to share a secret language, and his daughter Betty (Emma Rohrwacher). History comes alive when the door is a boy, now a chef friend of Edward after a tennis challenge: and Anthony (Edoardo Gabbriellini) to disturb the icy Emma. Edward and Antonio decide to open a restaurant together in Liguria, while homosexuality is discovered and the secret of the Betta will bond even more deeply to his mother. As you can guess comes a love story between Emma and Antonio, and she flourishes thanks to the love of the young cook. The film revolves around this love affair, dotted with crazy intensity by the director, characterized by secrecy and hiding. And 'seeing a traditional dish served at the table in Russia by a young chef who cooked Edward definitely includes what is going on between his friend and mother. During an argument with Edward it falls and dies, the tragedy that Emma is deeply upset, however, force, dissolved the bond with a beloved son, husband to confide in her love for Antonio, on the day of the funeral. Since then he has banished from home Recchi and the last scenes of the film, thanks also a soundtrack to the height of the cast and director, perfectly represent the last words spoken by Tancredi in Emma "you do not exist." Emma does exist however, leaving his home runs, if he were running away from everything that had been until then, only with a very long look greets his daughter Betty, the only one who seems to feel the way down what is happening in his family . The only way out of that pain, from a life of formality and only the economic well-being, is love for Antonio, the feeling for which he sacrificed everything.
Narration of the story, the focus is Tilda Swinton the film ... there be no mistake: Gabbriellini, director Guadagnino, the director of photography and the amazing soundtrack, make this film, the story perhaps not too original, a true masterpiece.
But Tilda ... Tilda says that the whole movie in Italian and is set in a special match, it is divine. I had noticed in other films such as Chronicles of Narnia or Constantine, but nothing comparable to the intensity of his performance in this great little film.
